We are currently looking for a dynamic and ambitious professional to join us as Programme Co-ordinator in our Manchester & North West team in the UK. The successful candidate will have experience of working in an events co-ordinator, project management or training programme co-ordinator role.

Grade: B

Salary: £18,000 - 19,000 

Duration: Permanent Full time, 5 days per week

Scope of the role and Person specification

The main purpose of this role is to co-ordinate activities for Common Purpose programmes across Manchester & North West and to support the business and curriculum development work of the Manchester and Lancashire teams. This includes both open programmes and customized work. The role may also be required to work and travel across the UK from time to time supporting other members of the wider CPUK team as part of Common Purpose’s flexible resource model.

Scope of the role

A self-starter, you will have a strong ability to work independently and on your own initiative. You will have good communication skills, and experience in working on a daily basis with systems and data. You will be responsible for sales and marketing co-ordination of our programmes, along with taking ownership of general office administration.

This role entails, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for sales and marketing co-ordination through proactive communication, project management and use of internal systems
  • Put together and support programme events and other activities in Manchester and Lancashire, under the guidance of the Manchester Programme Manager, to help deliver high quality experiences for our customers
  • Create and maintain effective and transparent systems to ensure that local Directors are supported effectively and able to meet as many organizations in the region as possible.
  • Carry out research prior to meetings, attend meetings where required, carry out effective and prompt post-meeting follow-up
  • Regular, professional and effective communications and relationships with key local customers and stakeholders (e.g. programme participants, advisory group members, contributors and alumni), ensuring co-ordination of approach
  • Ensure invoices are issued and accurately followed up in a prompt manner
  • Support the team to deliver objectives through the completion of administrative tasks, and database and diary management
  • Support other UK teams when needed.

Qualifications, experience and competences

We will consider candidates from any background provided they can demonstrate the relevance of their skills and experience and a sense of entrepreneurialism and creative strategic development.

The person appointed will essentially demonstrate:

  • Ability to work in a small team with self-direction
  • Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritizing a high workload and multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Excellent organization skills Meticulous attention to detail
  • Self-starter who is target-driven and able to motivate oneself when working on one’s own – must be comfortable in a target oriented environment
  • Friendly and professional interpersonal skills, on the phone, by email and face-to-face
  • Excellent written and spoken English An understanding of and commitment to Common Purpose’s mission, values and behaviours
  • Experience of building and maintaining strong working relationships
  • Confident and proficient in the use of MS Office


Qualifications, experience and competences

  • An undergraduate degree (or equivalent qualification) in any subject
  • Event organization experience
  • Good knowledge of the area, its key issues, and significant organizations
  • Experience of working in an office/sales based environment
  • Experience of working remotely with colleagues in different locations
