The World Leadership Alliance-Club de Madrid Members are uniquely positioned to provide independent, practical and strategic leadership experience to the next generation of leaders and, in doing so, to support the building of effective, good governance and democratic principles. Because good governance can’t exist in a vacuum, World Leadership Alliance-Club de Madrid Members identify visionary and responsible leadership as an important factor in providing strategic direction. It is for this reason that the World Leadership Alliance-Club de Madrid is collaborating with Common Purpose to invest in the younger generation of emerging leaders. These leaders often lack the platform or the means to exchange and learn about best practices with leaders of the stature of the World Leadership Alliance-Club de Madrid Members. No longer in office, World Leadership Alliance-Club de Madrid Members now represent their own personal leadership experience and commitment and not their countries or parties, and are therefore freer to share their experiences while still keenly aware of the pressures and problems faced by today’s leaders. The interaction between the generations within this programme is an excellent opportunity to develop leadership skills and practical tools for tackling complex problems. It also provides a forum for exchanging ideas, know-how, experience and inspiration.
