Vanessa Naicker is the head of learning and talent for the platinum business at Anglo American. She is a registered professional engineer, with broad multi-commodity global mining experience. Her work focuses on understanding the changing nature of work, its impact on the workforce and workplace and lends itself to partnering with a range of stakeholders to have positive impact in changing learning and talent ecosystems. She is passionate about technology and working with people to unlock opportunities for growth. Her deep concern and love for Africa, the empowerment of young leaders and her belief that education and knowledge are critical for social mobility, drives a lot of her activities.
In addition to her role in Anglo American, Vanessa holds various board and advisory positions. She is the Chairperson of the Mineral Education Trust Fund (METF) of South Africa, a board member of the Anglo American sefa Mining Fund, serves on the industry-university global think tank of the Future Talent Council and has recently been appointed to the Industry Advisory Board for the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment at her alma mater, the University of Witwatersrand, where she also chairs the interschool collaboration sub-committee.
In her spare time, Vanessa enjoys road running and travel experiences with her family.
