Programme Coordinator -Africa, Common Purpose

Francess Awunor

Francess Awunor is currently the Programme Coordinator (Africa) at Common Purpose, residing and working directly from Lagos, Nigeria.

Interestingly, Francess is a double alumnus of Common Purpose. She first has a taste of the experiential learning modules of Common Purpose at the Global Leaders Experience (GLE) Abuja in 2017, when she attended as a Law student from the Nigerian Law School Abuja. The second programme she attended was the pioneer Nigeria 75 programme held virtually in 2020 during the global pandemic.

Prior to joining Common Purpose, Francess has utilized every of her career progressions to express her drive for positive change and community development as a young African leader. With a background in Law from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, Francess consistently expresses her passion for service in either in student leadership positions or through community development actions as an advocate for Environmental Sustainability practices.

In 2018, Francess received a master scholarship award to study Water Policy at the Pan African University Institute from Water and Energy Sciences (PAUWES). This phase for Francess, made a huge contribution to her African leadership experience. In a programme with students from over 36 African countries, Francess was elected the leader of the student’s community of practice, which was an opportunity to develop her leadership abilities by applying practical lessons from Common Purpose programme to deliver leadership that cuts across boundaries and cultural differences. The lessons and experiences led Francess to start a virtual conversation called AfriConvo Series, which brings together young Africans to discuss how individual career expertise can be applied to grassroot development in African communities.

As a Programme Coordinator at Common Purpose – Africa, Francess works in collaboration with the Programme Director – Africa, to deliver projects for the African continent, spreading the works of Common Purpose through different institutional strata and career stages across the continent.
