Mansi Prakash who participated in 33Fifty last year took Brighter Today from idea to action to implementation when starting her social enterprise.
Mansi is a junior at New York University, majoring in Economics with a minor in Mathematics and Public Policy & Management. She has a passion for international development, travelling and photography. Born in India and growing up in Bangladesh and the Philippines, she has been exposed to the hardships that come with living in impoverished areas, developed an appreciation for diversity and found a passion to take initiative to help others.
With an avid interest in entrepreneurship, Mansi has started her own social enterprise, Brighter Today, that aims to use cost-effective, eco-friendly bulbs as a tool to alleviate poverty in developing nations. In March 2014, she was awarded the Resolution Fellowship and named one of the winners of the Social Venture Challenge at the Clinton Global Initiative University Conference to expand the initiative. Ultimately, she aspires to address some of the world's most pressing issues, make an impact in the lives of those who were not afforded the same opportunities and resources, and help enact change in the world.
