I buy a lot of my groceries at wet markets. They’re often packed and very noisy; you get pushed around a lot. You can buy raw chicken; by which I mean live chicken. They kill it on the spot. Or if you want, you can buy chicks and ducklings to rear at home. I think the wet markets show how diverse and cohesive KL can be. On any one day you can see multiple cultures, communicating in different languages. I think it’s significant because Malaysia has had racism issues in its history, but today it’s very tolerant place to live.
