In partnership with the American Express Foundation, Common Purpose recently delivered the first American Express Leadership Academy in Hong Kong to develop next-generation leaders in the not-for-profit sector.
The week-long event brought emerging leaders together from 21 NGOs from Hong Kong and mainland China. Participants were immersed in leadership development experiences and attended sessions involving local leaders from the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, as well as senior American Express executives from the region. The sessions covered a range of topics spanning leadership, collaboration and brand development, to name a few. Through the Academy, participants developed inter-personal and leadership skills as well as the business skills needed to run successful non-profit enterprises in today's complex and ever changing economic climate.
In the words of Y C Koh, President Asia, Card Services at American Express:“At American Express, we recognise the importance of developing a larger pool of world-class leaders in the social sector to address issues critical to local communities and society. With this inaugural American Express Leadership Academy, we look forward to helping many more emerging leaders in the non-profit sector to develop their strategic business and leadership skills in order to operate more effective organisations.”
