Common Purpose together with Gradcore and Gradconsult has recently won the 2014 AGR (Association of Graduate Recruiters) supplier to business award.

This award recognises supplier excellence in establishing highly effective partnerships with their clients, to help develop graduates.

Common Purpose's part has been to deliver a 'business intensive' to get successful graduates ready for their internship.

RISE, based in Sheffield, is a major city wide initiative to increase graduate employment in small and medium sized enterprises.  The vision is to bring together graduates who want to work hard and do great things, with businesses with energy and vision that are already looking for fresh talent. RISE is a collaboration between city partners, Sheffield City Council, Sheffield Hallam University, The University of Sheffield and the private sector.

Some of the elements that impressed the judges were:

  • Several providers working together collaboratively in a smooth, efficient way.
  • Clearly learnt from each other as well as evidence that each supplier added value and brought something to the final result.
  • Single banner team, engaging with stakeholders and all incorporating stakeholder suggested improvements.
  • Delivered clear results.

As some of the participants testified to:

"What a fantastic week at the Common Purpose business intensive! Met some great inspirational people and learnt some fantastic insights into personal development."

"I have developed a much better sense of the professional world. I have gained a supportive network and developed my networking skills.  I feel much more confident that I can make a significant contribution to the company which I am about to join."

"I feel more motivated and empowered to contribute and give value to a business rather than 'just' working for them."
