We are excited to announce the launch of the Africa Venture, a Common Purpose programme run in collaboration with the World Leadership Alliance-Club de Madrid.

The launch took place at the Young Leaders event ‘African Leadership: A Generational Dialogue’ as part of the African Development Bank’s Annual Meetings 2015 in Abidjan, Cote D'Ivoire.

The Africa Venture was formally launched by Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi, Special Envoy on Gender of the African Development Bank, as part of the intergenerational dialogue on “Africa and the New Global Landscapes”.

The Africa Venture will bring together future leaders from across Africa to work in new directions and develop innovative approaches to challenges facing the continent. The leadership programme will offer personal, privileged and generous interaction between this rising generation of leaders and former Heads of State and Government from the World Leadership Alliance-Club de Madrid. This will enable the transfer of knowledge and inspiration across the generations.

As World Leadership Alliance-Club de Madrid Secretary General Westendorp said: “This initiative puts intergenerational learning and innovation for leadership development to work in order to develop powerful policy ideas for addressing local and global challenges. It will involve global emerging leadership and the skills and first-hand political experience of the Members of the World Leadership Alliance-Club de Madrid. Its purpose is to create long-lasting relationships and exchanges between leaders of different generations."

The Africa Venture will be delivered in Nairobi in November 2015, after which the participants reconvene for the second part of the programme in Mumbai in February 2016.
