Jackie Butler is CEO of Common Purpose Ireland. Jackie joined
Common Purpose in 2003 as Programme Director to set up Common
Purpose in Cork and was appointed CEO in January 2007. Beginning
her working life in France and then Limerick, she moved to Cork in
1990 to co-ordinate the establishment of the National Sculpture
Factory.
After completing a BA degree NUI Galway Jackie worked mostly in the
arts and culture areas, developed a keen interest in EU cultural
policy and undertook various part-time post graduate studies,
including a Diploma in European Cultural Project Management,
Brussels (1994) and a Masters in European Cultural Planning De
Montfort University, Leicester (2002). She has contributed to
a number of EU based action-research projects in cultural
development, and local initiatives from Temple Bar in Dublin to
Transition Year programmes at second level.
Jackie also regularly volunteers, chairing meetings for voluntary
groups, project planning for charity fundraisers and working as a
tutor with a local adult literacy scheme.
