Main purpose of the role

Common Purpose are looking for a driven professional to join our busy finance team based in the city.

The successful candidate will have some experience of working in a Finance Manager role and experience of a hybrid commercial/not-for-profit environment would be a plus.

Department/Office: Finance Department

Responsible to: Finance Director

Grade: D

Salary: £22,000 per annum pro-rated

Physical Location: London

Duration: Permanent part time (3 days per week)

Overall Objectives and Person specification

The main purpose of this role is to support the Group Finance Director in a range of finance and company-related tasks and projects across the group entities.

Scope of the role

This role involves: 

  • Support the continued implementation of the new financial accounting package by addressing specific queries and short term projects, working across finance, IT and business units
  • Support the Group Finance Director in preparing regular management and board reporting
  • Coordinating the preparation of the annual budget cycle in conjunction with Business Unit Financial Controllers
  • Assisting project teams on costing proposals
  • Support Common Purpose business units by being the first point of review for sales contracts
  • Support the Finance Director in ad hoc business projects and system developments as required
Person specification

Essential qualifications, experience and competences:

  • Strong administrative and organization skills and attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated experience of working in a project management, administrative and/or finance role
  • Demonstrable knowledge of key business management and finance concepts
  • Strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English.
  • Confident and proficient in the use of IT systems, including MS Office (Excel)
  • Experience of establishing strong working relationships with colleagues from different functions and cultures
  • Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritising a high workload and multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines
  • An understanding of and commitment to Common Purpose’s mission, values and behaviours


Desirable qualifications, experience and competences:

  • Educated to degree level, ideally in Finance or a professional qualification (ACCA / CIMA / AAT etc)
  • Familiarity with budgeting and basic project costing
