Main purpose of the role

Common Purpose is a not-for-profit leadership development organization. Our objective is to develop leaders who can cross boundaries. A not-for-profit, we run programmes in over 70 cities worldwide. Founded in 1989, over 4,000 people become Common Purpose Alumni every year.

We are currently looking for a dynamic and ambitious professional to join our Communications and Marketing team, to work as a Digital Marketing Executive. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven, analytical thinker to support Common Purpose in the delivery of a range of digital marketing campaigns.

You will work with the wider team to create, implement, manage, optimize report and analyse digital campaigns. You will lead on delivering our Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy and the management of our Google Adwords budget. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a confident, proactive, resilient approach are key. You will be part of an agile team which is able to deliver results to a constantly growing business. This role is the perfect opportunity for an experienced marketing professional who wants to create positive impact in South Asia, Asia-Pacific and across the world.

Overall Objectives and Person specification

The main purpose of this role is to generate leads, drive business development and manage key clients within the University sector and with corporate partners globally who provide the sponsorship for our student programmes in the region, and leveraging the relationships with our existing corporate partners to drive the growth of our student business in Asia-Pacific.

Scope of the role

This role involves:

  • To be responsible for business development through managing existing customer relationships and by implementing sales and marketing strategies generating commercial relationships within the University and corporate sectors, leading to new business and contributing significantly to Common Purpose’s growth in the region
  • Building the Common Purpose student brand globally
  • Working closely with the wide network of Common Purpose stakeholders and inter-group companies and Common Purpose International entities to maximise opportunities for growth
  • Providing the tools and advice to effectively bid, market and manage key accounts and stakeholders


Person specification

Essential qualifications, experience and competences:

  • Excellent strategic development skills and experience of working in a University business development role and/or a corporate sales environment
  • Experience of building and maintaining strong working relationships and partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including the ability to create and develop opportunities without supervision on their own initiative
  • Self-starter who is target-driven and motivated – must be comfortable in a target oriented environment
  • Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritising a high workload  and multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Experience of monitoring and reporting on financial and statistical information
  • Track record in inputting into sales and marketing collateral
  • Ability to identify key trends in the Asia-Pacific region
  • Ability to understand and communicate effectively with international members of Common Purpose senior management team from different cultures
  • Experience of establishing strong working relationships with colleagues from different functions and cultures
  • Strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English
  • An understanding of and commitment to Common Purpose’s mission, values and behaviours
  • Educated to at least degree level
  • Experience of proactively identifying and solving problems
  • Able and willing to travel to international locations for short periods of time and at short notice


Desirable qualifications, experience and competences:

  • Experience of selling leadership development programmes/services to Universities and to national and multinational organizations in a corporate sales environment
  • Ability to speak multiple languages.
