Main purpose of the role

Common Purpose is a not-for-profit leadership development organization. Our objective is to develop leaders who can cross boundaries. A not-for-profit, we run programmes in over 70 cities worldwide. Founded in 1989, over 4,000 people become Common Purpose Alumni every year. We are currently looking for a dynamic and ambitious professional to join us as Project Co-ordinator in our London hub team in our Central office. Full of energy, drive and with a can-do attitude you will work closely with the Senior Partnership Development Manager of Common Purpose London hub team.

Operating within a dynamic and fast-paced environment you will be responsible for the smooth execution of Common Purpose leadership programmes and events. We are looking for someone to be a part of a young, energetic team working out of London. The successful candidate will be exposed to a number of local and international leadership programmes to work on, resulting in a steep learning curve.

Responsible to: Senior Partnership Development Manager

Grade: C

Salary: £20,000-21,000 per annum

Physical Location: London                 

Duration: Permanent Full time (5 days per week)

Overall Objectives and Person specification

The London hub team is going through a period of significant growth in the delivering of leadership programmes in London, Europe and the Middle East. The main purpose of this role is to manage and run successful leadership programmes including the streetwise mba, the American Express Leadership Academy and various others. As a part of the role, you will also be responsible for managing, coordinating and delivering high quality events for the London hub team, which will involve engagement with senior leaders.

Scope of the role

A self-starter, with excellent communication skills, you will have a strong ability to work on your own initiative, and working with an agile team on the planning of our programmes. You will also have experience in project management, as well as the delivery of our programmes, while being able to multi-task in an energetic, fast-paced team.

This role entails, but not limited to, the following:

  • Playing a central role in managing and delivering high quality leadership programmes and events run by the London hub team
  • Proactively project managing the programmes from point of sale through to evaluation of the programme
  • Monitoring, managing data and research gathering
  • Having a key role in collecting impact and evidence
  • Implementing the social media strategy for the team, working with Communications and Marketing team in promoting our programmes and impact
  • Having a strong understanding of how to communicate with local Common Purpose teams to ensure a consistent approach to contacts, clients and alumni
  • Supporting the team on various daily responsibilities as required
Person specification

Essential qualifications, experience and competences:

  • Strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English
  • Self-starter with experience of a flexible approach in managing and prioritising multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to operate both independently and as part of a small team
  • Ability to deal with a wide range of people either by phone, email or face-to-face, in a friendly but professional way
  • Strong analytical skills and an interest in developing systems and processes
  • An understanding of and commitment to Common Purpose’s mission, values and behaviours
  • IT and project management skills

Desirable qualifications, experience and competences:

  • An undergraduate degree (or equivalent qualification) in any subject or three years of relevant professional experience
  • Event and programme delivery experience
  • Experience of working in an office/sales based environment
  • Experience of establishing strong working relationships with colleagues from different functions, cultures and levels
