We aim to create the next generation of global leaders who can work across boundaries to tackle the major problems of the world.

Students explore diversity in Johannesburg

The problems of the world—and their solutions—spread across boundaries. Most leaders stay within them.

We want to ensure that the next generation of leaders are better at crossing boundaries—sectors, specializations, geographies, generations, backgrounds and beliefs—to tackle the problems of the world.

Students on a programme in Fudan

So we partner with world-class universities and global corporations to run leadership programmes for both inbound and outbound university students. Our programmes equip students with Cultural Intelligence, an increasingly crucial leadership competency for this globalised, complex and interconnected world.

The result is a global network of university students who can create change in the world around them—at university, in their cities and in their future careers.

"In our ever more complex and interconnected world which has no obvious historical parallel, Common Purpose has developed a breakthrough idea about the importance of cultural intelligence (CQ) in order to navigate both this new world and its contradictions. It has important implications and raises questions about our current systems for those of us involved in educating and developing our future global citizens."
