Tony is a serial entrepreneur, having established 18 start up
businesses in his career and today operates a number of businesses
as well as being heavily involved in developing The Mowgli
Foundation, mentoring entrepreneurs. A passionate advocate of the
benefit entrepreneurs bring to society and mentoring as a key
enabler to lifelong personal development and education.
Born in Zimbabwe, travelled and lived extensively outside the
UK, currently lives in Dorset with his wife Anne and their
three dogs. Their daughter Kathleen has flown the nest and is now
seeking to be involved as a social entrepreneur in Africa.
Educated at Prior Park Prep School, Cricklade, then Prior Park
College, Bath before studying at University of Manchester
(Institute of Science and Technology as it was then) before taking
his MBA at Manchester Business School and being awarded the Bryan
Elliott Memorial Prize for the leading student in his year.
Entered employment as a graduate trainee with Courtaulds,
attracted to working in the Middle East and joined British
Aerospace in Saudi Arabia in 1974. Upon completion of my MBA
in 1978, on the back of being involved in the feasibility study for
an engineering services business joined a company in Qatar. Created
a further number of start up businesses in Qatar, ranging from oil
trading to industrial services initially as General Manager
and then as Group General Manager.
Established my own business in 1985, a consulting company and
then continued to be involved in acquisitions, starting up and
expanding new businesses.
Commenced exiting a number of these businesses in 2008 and
today, chair an investment company investing in start ups,
businesses requiring capital growth and distressed assets.
Continue as a minority shareholder and director of a trading
company, industrial service company and an engineering company.
In 2009 founded the Mowgli Foundation, to mentor entrepreneurs
in both the MENA region and the UK to meet the challenge of wealth
creation and employment of the youth of today. To date( Jan 31
2012) some 176 entrepreneurs have entered the programs in Jordan,
Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Turkey.
In 2010, was appointed to the board of governors of the Prior
Park Educational Trust, Bath.
