Common Purpose ran its first course in Ghana in 2008. TheKNOW (now named Meridian), run in Accra, was a course that provided leadership development for participants from the private, public, and not for profit sectors across Accra society.

The Common Purpose programme brought together leaders from across the sectors in Accra to explore the challenges and opportunities facing the city.

The 54 participants hailed from a diverse set of backgrounds and from organisations across the public, private and not for profit sectors including the Gender Action Unit, the Federation of Youth Clubs, and the Guaranty Trust Bank. They heard from a range of specialist contributors from organisations such as the African Women's Development Fund, the Databank Group, and the Diaspora African Forum - as well as taking advantage of Common Purpose's unique experiential learning in order to experience another side to their city.

As participants remarked:

"To sum up, l will say Common Purpose has removed from my eyes the scales that prevented me from seeing beyond my limitations. Now, l have no reason not to effect change in my organization, school, home and the society at large"

"TheKNOW will open your eyes and mind to the opportunities in life... either to better yourself, someone else or your community. A rewarding experience!"

If you want a confidence-boosting platform to enhance your leadership potential, then the Common Purpose programme is your sure bet. No platform gives you the required training and experience to become an excellent leader in your country like Common Purpose. The programme transforms you into a different individual…one who is concerned about leading beyond their sphere of influence."

Common Purpose no longer runs local courses in Ghana but people based in Ghana still have the opportunity to be involved in our exciting global programmes:

CSCLeaders is a global leadership programme for 120 exceptional senior leaders selected each year from government, business and NGOs across the 53 countries of the Commonwealth.

Participants tackle challenges that businesses, governments and society face today and build the global relationships needed by the leaders of tomorrow.

CSCleaders is a partnership between Common Purpose and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh's Commonwealth Study Conferences and is a renewal of the old Commonwealth Study Conferences.
