Emma Shercliff is a consultant based in Abuja, Nigeria. She was formerly Managing Director of Macmillan English Campus, a digital publishing division of Macmillan Publishers. She was Executive Director of the Turquoise Mountain Foundation (U.S.) from 2009-2014. She is the Vice-Chair of World Computer Exchange, a global education and environmental non-profit which aims to connect young people in developing countries to the skills, opportunities and understanding of the Internet.
Emma holds an MA in Modern Languages from Cambridge University and an MA in International Development & Education from the UCL Institute of Education, University of London. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the UCL Institute of Education and her PhD research focuses on the role and contribution of women within the African publishing industry. Emma has lived and worked in Paris, Melbourne, Tehran and Washington D.C. and has been working as a consultant with the British Council in Abuja since February 2014.
